"i was so hungry i could eat a horse"

so i did.but these are the kinds of things that happen when you hang out with tongan friends- you make otai (a sweet, delicious, pineapple, coconut, watermelon drink- pure heaven) and you eat horse. and you like it, as soon as you get past the initial feeling bad about eating such a great animal. but if you think about it, cows are great too.
and funny enough, the horse meat was shipped over from utah of all places.

actually, karen, i think that they do. and not just ANY dog, but BLACK dog. that's why i hear you never see any black dogs in the philippines. seriously. i know several people who have served missions there, including my grandparents (twice) and they can vouch for that.

That's really horse? I had no idea that Tongans ate horse. Well, I hope it was tasty. I think I would have to pass. I loved My Little Ponies too much growing up!

So, what does horse taste like? Chicken? I think I could only eat it if I didn't know what it was! But the otai sounds delicious!
