a halloween sneak preview

tonight we had a dry run halloween at the turtle bay halloween party- had to make sure the girls costumes are going to work on the big night next week.
i mentioned that i was going to make them, and they are so homemade. i just sort of went for it without patterns or anything. and, i learned something: i really am not skilled at sewing. squares and strips for making blankies are one thing, but making clothes- whole new ball game. but betsy and i had fun and they fit really cute. you just can't look too closely at them, cause they were made really quickly, without straight lines, and with minimal ironing. for halloween we are going to add accessories and some other finishing touches. i just thought they were so cute i couldn't help but post them now.

i have no idea what was so amazingly interesting about these little pumpkins but when you try to get a two year old, a 7 month old, and a 6 month old to all look cute- or even look up at the same time- this is what type of shot you end up being happy with: *the cute little one on the left is niki, betsy's daughter, velzy and ivy's cousin.

Oh, I LOVE the picture with the pumpkins. That is absolutely adorable. I think that you did a great job. The fact that they are intact and wearable is a huge plus for me. The rare time I sew something it looks like a five-year-old did it while they were learning. Have a wonderful time trick-or-treating or whatever you'll be doing. Maybe you and Luke should go as Fred and Wilma or Barney and Betty, then have your friends (to whom the other little one belongs to) go as the opposite. That would be adorable. Have a great Sunday!

Those are SO cute! I think you did a great job. I don't see a thing wrong with them. I wouldn't be confident enough to make a coustume. Micah is going to be a rock star, so I basically am going to gather accessories. Give yourself props for being so creative. How many people make costumes anymore?

I love the cave women look! I cannot believe how cute they are and Nikki is adorable too! We are following the caveman theme also and being Wilma and Pebbles, and Barney (fitting huh?) and BamBam (also very fitting. I will post pics soon as we have a trunk-or-treat coming up! Have fun trick-or-treating, I am sure Velzy with just love it!

Okay, I'm sorry I haven't been checking blogs a lot lately or else I would've been on the list with Tonya on the day that she was the only one who commented!

That limeade sounds awesome. I might have to make that soon.

And the cave baby costumes are awesome. You should sell them. I can't believe you made those Ashley! You are so talented! V's cousin is a little cutie too!

"Little girls shouldn't wear bikinis" said the little 5-year-old at the Reston pool. ;) I love the costumes! Way cute!

Those are so cute!!! You did a great job. Very authentic. You know, cave people just tore things and tied them together (or so it says in our history books, so the fact that you sewed them is pretty good.

Those are so cute. Who cares? Babies look everything look cute. Good job! Of course, they could only wear those costumes in Hawaii at night because it's too chilly here.

I saw your Dad at Robyn's ward last Sunday. He's so friendly! I like him.

Have fun tonight!

So cute and fun to give a sneak preview. You've got to get all the use you can out of those cute costumes! I was thinking about that lime tree picture with the aloe vera plant in contrast to your herb pot in VA many moons ago. I love how earthy you are.
