the BIG 1-8!

18 months that is...
i can't believe velz is a year and a half old- so small and yet she is starting to be such a big kid. I hate to say it but part of me does not want a little baby to come and ruin the good thing that we have going right now. we have so much fun together these days. and i know that things will continue to get more fun with her and that she will (hopefully) be a good big sister but i am a little worried too. ok, there i said it.
anyways, it has been so much fun to watch her "grow up" lately- just to watch the little wheels in her head turning, constantly taking things in and learning, it's so cool. luke says that one of the greatest moments that he has had as a dad was when he asked her a few months ago to get him the remote and she got up, grabbed it from the t.v. stand and brought it to him. it's so funny to see her do things that you ask her- be it wipe up the juice that you just spilt all over the kitchen floor or please give me a hug. it's so rad that she can understand everything these days.
there are so many things that i love about this little girl- her fake laugh, her independence and energy, her cheesy smiles, she and her dad's laughs together, how she loves to help me do laundry, the dishes, and vacuum, how luke or i can't take a shower with out having a visitor join us, how she loves to be outdoors and animals and bugs, how she wants to know what everything is and amazingly remembers a lot of what she is told, her happy eyes (i will come back to this like 5 times today and add more i guarantee)...
and of course there are some things that are very toddler and annoying like the hair pulling, the uh-uh-uh's instead of talking, and how she can't watch baby einstein without sitting on my lap. but we can work on them.
it's funny to me how a little year and a half old kid has become my best friend, how i don't feel complete without her near me, and how much i love everything about her. so happy year and a half day (yesterday- because our internet chooses to not work at least one day a week lately) little girl, i love you!

that is such a precious tribute! I know what you mean about having an 18month old for a best friend, they are just the best! I also didn't realize her and my Lauren were so close in age. L is 16 months today- crazy! V always seems so big to me.
She'll be a grrrreat big sister!!!

Awesome post, Ash. You forgot to mention the greatest thing about babies turning 18 months. They get to go into nursery!! Yay! You'll probably only get a couple of weeks or so in until the newbie comes though. Enjoy it. I told Stac it felt like we were on a date when we could sit together in Sunday School with no kids!

Don't you love to see their little personalities shining though? I love it when they start to become their own little person. It's so fun.

How are you feeling? Contracting much? When is you next dr's appt? When do we get to start guessing when she'll be born, how much she is going to weigh, etc? I'm so excited for you guys!!!

She is SO cute. I love 18 months too. Amazing the best friends we have these days. I have a 7 yr old, a 5 yr old and an 8 mo old! Who would've ever guessed?

Is that masking tape on her clothes?

What a cute smile Velzy has! That is so funny about the remote retrieval. It is so great when they understand what you say! Awesome that she is already acclimated to Nursery. Thanks for the inspiring post. Helps me realize how precious these months are with my little 20 month old.

awww so sweet hubba. once again the parrallel SP? lives. soe of those things are the things i cherish most about kaia. i used to hate that i couldn't get in the shower without her wanting to get in, then when i realized its not that much work to make her sooo happy and the time we have together, and the fact that showering with your mom when your older is a little wierd, i accepted the fact and though to enjoy this time while we can do these funny things together. also isn't it special that out two girls got to have a year and a half being the only child all that extra time with us without siblings? i think that i will always look back on this time as special. PS what the heck is all over v's clothes? she's a funny one. but it looks strategically placed. almost too good for a 1.5 year old.

18 months seems like a milestone, doesn't it? We've got 3 weeks until Trent turns 18 months old. I can't believe it. Don't you love the fake laugh? I didn't know other kids did it too.

I didn't even notice the masking tape. I just thought it was part of the look of the outfit. Very hip.

Well, soon she'll seem even older when baby #2 comes! She is going to love her little sister!

She really is cute Ashley. 18 months and almost a big sister. That is so exciting for both you and her. Isn't it just the best to think that our best friend's are tiny little beings that love everything?

You are a great mom...

How are you feeling?
