nothin much...

it's priesthood session and i am at home a little bored. i guess i could go and watch the 3rd disc of the second season of the office, but luke and i already watched the whole thing last night. the whole thing, deleted scenes and all. we have no control, it is just so good how can you stop watching after you get started?
oh, change of topics--- HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY BRYNN!!!!! i wish i was in utah going out to dinner with her and adam and my parents. they just went to the second session of confrence and are going to CPK. brynn is living in the dorms at byu and she is attending the byu extension in salt lake. she is so funny to talk to about life right now. she has what sounds to be a total over-achiever nerd for a roommate. well, just a typical byu girl- just the total opposite of brynn, she would probably drive me crazy too. i love to hear brynn talk about her- about how she wakes her up every morning at 7 when she blow dries and flat irons her hair, about how she says "i am so fat" or "i ate so much today" and brynn has no sympathy whatsoever. for those of you who know brynn, you know what i am talking about. she is a great, and she is totally not your typical girl who talks about dumb stuff like that or cares that someone else is telling her. her roommate wants to be best lifelong friends, and brynn just wants her to shut-up. i would give anything to see how things go on in that dorm room.
if i could give brynn anything for her birthday it would be to have a good experience, i want her to enjoy her 18th year. i want her to meet some friends who are somewhat like her who she can relate to and be happy with, but how do you do that in a huge place like provo? i never went there (for longer than 2 blissful, wonderful months) so i don't know, but i can imagine it is really hard and really easy to get that small fish in a big pond feeling or get lost in the shuffle. i also want brynn to find something in school that will make her happy. something that she can enjoy and get into, because when she gets into something, she can be so good at anything. oh, brynn, i don't know what else to say but i love the girl!
so, this evening i hear a knock on the door and i open it up to find these two little black girls who live in our complex- shaniqua, shakira, shaqua-something, i can't remember. they are about 11 and are so funny. i meet them last week when v and i were just walking the sidewalks. one of them lives above me and so they came over to play with the baby. then one left and went up stairs and came back with her niece who is a little 10 month old girl. they played for a while and then she took the baby home, but dont worry came back to hang out and brought her sister too. they just were happy to hang, so we played a few games of uno and played with velzy. then one of them tells me that her sister wants to spend the night sometime. oh, really? umm, what do you say? sure, lets just have a slumber party while we are at it, have all the girls come! oh boy. what have i gotten myself into? i am like the girl scouts leader. they were so stoked to be hanging out at our house, they kept saying i like it here, and can we come over again? sure, anytime. i guess i don't have to worry about being too bored this winter when we are trapped inside. i think it is so funny, but i can tell that they might really want to hang out here- a lot. as they were leaving they said they would come back tomorrow. luckily we are going to go visit a friend so i got out of it, but i guess it is always good to make some new friends. maybe this can count as some sort of a missionary experience. it's like joining the big sisters of america program. they are sweet though so this should be fun.

Happy Birthday, Brynn!! That's so cool that your parents are up there to spend it with her. Does she read your blog, Ash? I miss Brynn. She is seriously so cool. I would give anything to be a fly on the wall in that dorm room. I bet Brynn just dies when her roomie wants to "chat". Funny.

Brynn is so talented, I'm sure she will discover what will make her happy.

And, you, Ash, are cracking me up. Befriending the neighborhood girls. You are just like your dad. Taking in the strays and making it a missionary experience. Do you have a peep hole? Maybe you can just not answer the door?

hahhahaaha.
i am laughing so hard at two things.
a. they are excited to come to your house because at your house they don't get yelled at to "%^&* over here ^&*&(" haha, just kidding, but i served my mish over there, i know.
b. your sister sounds like how i was new at byu. i asked someone the first day at campus if there was something special happening. they said no, why? and i said, because everyone is all dressed up. they laughed and said, well, thats just how people dress here. ahha. my first rommates were so exactly what you're describing. oh to be young again! she sounds like she has a good head on her shoulders.
