is it monday yet?

it's raining outside, i love the sound of rain falling, the smell of when it first starts to rain and the instant drop in temperature that the rain brings. luke is in the girls room with his guitar playing slow songs, fast songs are no longer allowed at bed time because the mosh pit that ensues does not help them fall asleep. not at all. a few slow songs and luke's soothing voice* make for good falling asleep music. it's so nice to have him be the last one out of their room at night. whenever i try to close the door i get bombarded with "i need to tell you a joke, i need another drink, fix my blanket..." so i am relishing the fact that i am sitting peacefully on the couch listening to the rain right now.

it's been a long weekend. friday velz and ivy got sick. throw up every 20 min for 6 hours and then randomly through the night, sick. curl up in a ball cause your tummy hurts, sick. mom and dad wonder if they need to take you to the ER cause you can't keep any liquids down, sick. it was sad. today they are feeling much better. in fact tonight at grandma's house they were running around crazy and you would not have believed me if i told you they had been so sick earlier. kids bounce back so fast. our weekend that as supposed to be full of craft sale, garage sale, and beach time was spent rubbing hurting bellies and backs, watching princess and the frog and netflix instant view movie, and bouncing between ice chips and gatorade, popsicles and saltines. but like caillou's mom says "when something bad happens it's good to look at the bright side." so, it was nice to snuggle my little ladies, to rest (sort of), and hang at home (even though it was the longest saturday of my life).

sickonasunday

we are looking forward to a healthy week. a good week. counting on it actually.

*this just brought back a memory, and i figure i should write memories down before i don't remember them anymore, so you might get some random memory post in the future. anyways, a long time ago, before i really knew luke he came up to the animal house to hang out with one of my roommates- miss juanita to be exact. he got out her guitar and started playing some songs i knew so i sat down and started singing with him. that should be funny to anyone who has ever heard me sing, cause i suck at singing. i am really bad. anyways, we sang for a while, it was fun. it was the first time i had ever really hung out with luke. turns out he was an pretty cool guy. that was back in 2001, a few years before we ever started "dating" but i remember loving to hear him sing. i never would have imagined that this guy who was just hanging at my house playing jack johnson and ben harper songs would one day become my best friend and end up playing the same songs to our daughters to lull them to sleep. funny how things turn out.

what a sweet memory. it always drives me crazy thinking of all the things i didnt know would be and WHAT IF i never moved to hawaii- where would i be and what would i be doing right now? it's fun.

and I am so sorry to hear they were sick! We had an all sickie weekend too and both boys are still coughing and snotty. I'm all annoyed cuz I don't know if people will want their kids around mine for happy school and i dont want to mess the schedule up again. irritating. i'll check in with you guys tonight about it though.

I hate when kids get sick. I worry so much and think the worst. I'm so happy that your two little angels are feeling better. What a relief for you.

*About that memory, I to remember it so clearly. It's funny when we were looking for roommates and Jeff told us about you. I felt so good about it with out even meeting you yet. And when I did meet you, at least I felt we instantly connected. It all was meant to be! I'm so glad that I played a huge part of you two meeting, you guys make beautiful babies:)
