happenings

i realized that i have not done one of those "what the monsters are up to these days" posts in a while, so here goes. vz and iv have the love/hate thing going, like most siblings do i am sure, but for the most part it is love. the other day they wanted to take a nap together, a common request. sure, why not? we try it out every other week or so- they laugh and jump, and talk, and sometimes bite, hit or scratch. it lasts 5-10 minutes then ivy is placed back in her pack-n-play (going to get her a bed this week, promise) and they take their naps. the other day velz was yelling for me to come look at them so i grabbed my camera (when it was working) and walked in to see ivy snuggling on velzy, so cute: shortly after i left, ivy bit velzy and she was removed from the bed.

velzy is a little mamma, she loves to take care of any and everyone.  it's amazing the rules that she remembers and enforces on others- wish she would listen to them all herself sometimes, but honestly, she is a really good kid.  she is sensitive, this morning she cried while watching the little mermaid 2 (not to be confused with the little mermaid or the little mermaid ariel's beginning) when she thought someone was going to get hurt, it's sort of sweet.  she can eat a whole carton of blueberries in 5 minutes flat.  she loves dress up but in neglected in that area as her mom and dad have a fear of princesses, all she wants is some of those lame plastic mini high heals with the princesses, maybe someday.  she has pretty much stopped twisting and pulling out her hair, all because she wants her hair to be "long and pretty" and she comments on anyone who has pretty hair. the 10 year old across the street from us, jasper, is her new best friend, they play all afternoon and she loves every minute of it. she has got an amazing memory and forgets nothing that has been promised to her- especially treats.  she makes friends fast but misses her old friends and told me the other day that she wants all of her friends to come to the park and play and then named off a bunch of her friends.  she can't remember what state she is living in.  started sunbeams, which she didn't want to do because she loves nursery so much- treats, songs, playdough- what is not to love?, but she didn't want to leave her class when church was done yesterday so i think she likes it.  and my favorite thing about velzy these days is that she randomly spurts out "i love you mommy" and i love her too.
closer look:

ivy is a parrot- she loves to sing and copy whatever you say, her little vocabulary cracks me up.  she always takes my hand and tugs saying "mom, come on." she is a copycat, typical second child?  she can do anything the older kids can do, often times just as good.  she loves to be held and snuggle while sucking her thumb, when she is cold i unzip my sweatshirt and she cozies into me to stay warm, i love it.  it is funny how much of a snuggler momma's girl she can be one second then be so independent the next.  she is a fighter, especially over baby stuff. luke picked her up from nursery yesterday and she was battling over a baby stroller.  that is because she is baby obsessed, she is so into babies right now.  she walks around with hers saying sleepy, hungy, drink, or poopy, then takes care of them.  she is very strong willed, some dad at the park today told me that because she is a aries, whatever.   she loves to play games- her favorite is to put something in her hand and say "hand" then you have to guess what is in her hand, sounds lame, but it's fun.  it is so cool to watch her learn because at her age you can literally see the wheels turning and it is funny to hear her start to talk about everything she is putting together in her head.  she is scared of facial hair and has the greatest grin.

and there you have it.

Cute! I swore I would never do the princess crap or the color pink, I hate the color pink! However, I gave in, she loves both the princess stuff and the color pink so much and she looks good in pink! So now I just make sure she can still be tough skateboard with the boys while wearing her princess dress and plastic shoes! I figured if a pink wetsuit gets her out surfing I am all for it, ha! ha!
Fun seeing ya the other night, we will for sure have to hang soon again and hopefully longer!

You know that prohibiting princess stuff is totally gonna backfire on you, right? Hehe. No, I'm kidding. But the girls are too cute. I think they're wonderful. And I love that they pick their noses. Yes, that's awesome.

So fun to read about how they are growing, how you guys are doing, and see how big they are getting. Ivy sounds pretty much like Eden right now. Definately baby obsessed, and I love watching it, and an independant copycat. She's an aries too. ;-) She loves to tell me "Mamma, IT DOWN!" in her forceful voice as she points to the spot next to her. Eden still pulls out her hair, hopefully she will quit by the time she's Velz's age.
