a little catch up...

i have been meaning to post these pictures from when our things arrived for a while now. these are two of the six full sized crates and one "coffin" that had our longboards in it:luke and velzy hard at work supervising:unloading!: the bigger of the two guys pictured wore rubber slippers the whole time, so professional.the guys that did our unpacking were way cooler (and quicker and more cautious, as well as had way less teeth and spoke great pidgin) than the nerds that did the packing in virginia. we also came out ahead- a little desk of ours was broken (luke didn't like it much anyways) and somehow a travel case full of fishing poles made it into the last of our crates, so we scored.

on to things that happened this week...tuesday night we had a huge storm. tons of rain and lots of wind, at some point in the night we lost power- as did most of the island. i love power outages, and anyone who has lived in laie can attest that they happen all the time, its great. it's so fun to have candles early in the morning and nothing on in the house. i seriously think i could live without power- for a little while at least.
in virginia we used to get snow days, but out here luke got 2 days off cause of the no power situatuion, so we had ourselves a midweek weekend. it was great, especially since during the day the weather was beautiful. having no power is easy when you spend the day at the beach.

this puddle shows up in front of our place every time it rains, and luke has parts of our roof in his hands that blew off the night before. and yes, we break out the sweatshirts- the temperature may have dipped down below 70- which means it's winter around these parts. we are wimps.oh, and thanks for the support on the snipage of the hair. i never ever in a million years thought i would ever chop my hair. i have been sort of anit-short-hair for ummm, my whole life, but for many reasons was just in the mood for a change, wanted to do something charitable, and got sick of my hair. let me just say- i went surfing today and my hair didn't bug me, when i went for a run yesterday and my hair was not getting stuck on sweaty arms or arm pits, and my hair actually dries (it had been wet since we moved- no joke, it never dryed). so, i think i really like it. wierd.

OH, how I would love to trade snow days for power outage days! You know, if we're lucky, it may hit 60degrees next week . . . don't you miss it? Velzy has the best tan line . . . I love it.

Isn't having the government move you just about the best thing ever?! I heard about the storms and wondered if they would effect you. I guess a couple days off work isn't too bad...!

I love power outages - and downed telephone poles (except when in labor:) - they give a great "reason" to stay home and just be!

Where have I been with your blog? So much fun you guys have been having and somehow I've missed out on it. So sad. I love the Hawaii storms and I love that Luke got two days off from it!

Such cute girls, you really have two beautiful little girls...
