see, you were born in virginia

so we figured we needed to go take some pictures of the girls in the city to prove that they actually did live here (official countdown: one month till take off!). saturday was beautiful, all of the sudden it feels like fall and it's not so amazingly hot! ivy had her first metro ride into the city- she slept through it of course. we meet up with my favorite city dweller leslie and off we went to cruze around a little of the city. (i found a new program on our computer and have been messing with our pictures) we had never been to the jefferson monument so that was our first stop. on our way there we saw a guy catch a fresh water eel, so cool.i never imagined that i would be one of those people who you look at and say "i bet they are mormon" but after looking at this picture i realize that we totally do.anyways, moving on around the tidal basin to the FDR monument. which i also had never been to, and it was super cool with tons of water falls. luke decided that when he dies the monument made for him will have to be like this one. velzy paying her respects:when velzy first saw the statue of his dog she climbed up and gave him a kiss, but was a little shocked when he was really hot and ran away all sad saying "hot hot hot"on the other end of the tidal basin we went to visit my favorite person in the city. mr. abe. love him.this is les- our family photographer for the day.by then we were a little hot and had to get velz the popsicle we were bribing her with. ivy enjoyed her first patriot pop too.
a quick stop by the white house (which we were too close to meltdown time to really get close to) and we were on our way home.just like last week when we came back from the zoo, as i look at these pictures i am realizing that d.c. really is a pretty cool place. and as i think back over the fun that we have had here i am happy that we lived her- i can say this now because we are leaving- but really it is a neat place. there is so much to do and see and you can't help but be proud of our country's history and all of the great people that helped to make our country great.

I love DC! I'm glad you got the girls pictures around the monuments so they can always say that they've been (and lived) there. So cool.

Any details on your move? Do you have a place to stay when you go over there yet?

Good idea to take pictures of the gorgeous places surrounding you so your kids can have those memories. Too bad you can't stay partially through the Fall, because it is so beautiful. But whatever, Hawaii is probably even better.

I like how you played around with the pictures...so artistic!

You do look like a Mormon family. I wonder if we do too? I can definitely recognize them at Disneyland, but sort of like to think that we don't stand out like that...

Looks like a fun day! Definitely a must before you leave so your girlies will have proof they lived somewhere cold and un-tropical.
