babylon, oh babylon, we bid thee farewell

could this be any more stereotypical east coast beach? i love it. every time we go to the beach out here i can't get over how funny the beaches are with the picket fences, sand dunes, and grass swaying in the wind. this is west gilgo beach, babylon, new york, home of the rathgabers, one of my favorite families. they are one of those families that make you want to take notes when you are with them because you want your family to be like them some day- they are all best friends and they have so much fun together. if i had a genie pop out of a bottle the one wish i would have is to have my whole family be best friends and genuinely enjoy each others company- is that 2 wishes?
we got to surf on the east coast finally, and it was really fun. the day that we arrived we brought with us a tropical storm, which meant rain and wind, but a few days of waves, so we didn't mind the otherwise dreary weather. it was so so so good to get wet in the ocean, i swear there is salt water in my veins and when i am not able to be in it something is missing.
bidding babylon farewell was sad, it can't say enough how nice it was to be able to walk to the beach from where you are staying, but if we are here next summer we are going to crash the family reunion again for sure. back at home now it's back to the chlorine, back to the heat, back to the rutine.
