i wish we didn't have to but when you have a 3-year-old little girl you have to- right? as i have previously stated i am sort of a princess-a-phobe and luke is even worse. i guess it is cause i am not really "girlie" and luke is scared of drama-rama make-up wearing teenagers who might never grow out of a three-year-old princess obsession. either way, she has the princess bug and for the time being i am starting to roll with it. a few weeks ago she was allowed (meaning i gave grandma the ok to buy them) to have some of those dumb plastic heals that she l-l-l-loves. by the next trip to grandma's house she had a princess dress (that amazing dress was whipped up my my mom in an afternoon, place your orders), and now she is a full on princess.
i have to say, there are some perks to this whole princess thing, for example, we told her that princesses don't eat their boogers and she has pretty much stopped that. she told my mom the other day "when i was a little girl i used to eat my boogers, but now i am a princess and i don't." princesses also have to get their "beauty sleep" so when she resists naps (usually at my parents house) she is told she needs her beauty sleep and sometimes it works.
the funny thing is that when we went to disneyland the other day with lauren and kaia we went to the princess place to meet them- velzy was pumped she really wanted to meet the princesses but when we finally got to meet them she didn't want to get near them. kaia was stoked and got hugs and talked to them all and velzy stood far away and observed. actually that is totally something she would do, plus it's gotta be weird to see them in real life after watching them on the movies. and, there is always next time, but i can guarantee she won't be wearing the dress to disneyland. guarantee it.
and speaking of disneyland with lauren and kaia:i still think it's funny that lauren and i are still bestest buddies and we have 2 kids who are the same ages and we take our oldest to disneyland during the week just cause we can. it's was only 10 short years ago that we were running around disneyland for my 16th birthday wrecking havoc on everything being annoying teenagers, and now we go visit princesses and take 3 year olds on the matterhorn. it's rad.

It is weird that we are old enough to have our KIDS cruisin around disneyland! Kaia and Velzy are so awesome in the teacup pic.Deacon needs an Ivy Dland day this month for sure! What's your sched. like??? And I am cracking up that you have to buy princess girly stuff Ash ...did you do her hair in that pic???
I'm with you on the no princess dresses to Disneyland! It's so impractical!! But you really can't help the princess thing. I never encouraged it but lo and behold we have frequent princess tea parties!
You mean you're not a girlie girl? Huh, all this time I totally thought you were;) Ha ha, I think every little girl goes through the princess phase and wearing plastic heels is just so much fun that i think i would get them for every birthday. Hope you guys had a blast at Disneyland- I miss that place!
Ok way to show us all up, her dress kicks ass! Way to give in to it all, I seriously swore I wouldn't do the princess thing and I also swore when I was prego she would never wear pink, I hate the color pink! The things we do for our daughters! My sister & I are really close (18 months apart) and our daughters are 3 days apart and it is so awesome! We will have to do another girls day at d-land soon w/ all the little princesses!
this is all some awesome part of the universe that i just know nothing about. i don t have a girl and i may never and that is kinda sad to me (dont get me wrong- amby's awesome, boys are awesome, but im just sayin')-i think i liked princess stuff but i liked tomboy stuff too. it's all fun!
and i am so pumped every time you write about disneyland because we are planning on taking the kids (yeah, that's weird, i said kidsSSSSS) in december and i CANNOT WAIT!
Man, you really do have a little princess! So cute. Ella asked for a princess cake for her birthday this year but she really hasn't gotten into dressing up too much (although we have dresses just waiting to be worn!). Man, I'd totally be taking advantage of "Princesses don't/do" if I could. OH, and I LOVE the dress your mom whipped together...seriously, you guys are SUPER talented. And another thing, that picture of Ivy laying down is super cute. You've totally got Photoshop down...I, on the other hand, am too lazy to do anything with mine.
ashley! I can't believe how big your girls are! i gotcha on the whole princess thing... good thing we are having a boy first. i hope everything is going well. that is great that you guys moved back and you get to be close to family. tell the fam I say hi!
I so want a dress. How much would she charge? Not for me that is but for Hollie. Hee hee
I love it! Princesses don't pick their nose, I remember to use that one:)
I know, I know! Hopefully they'll grow out of it.
You took 3 year olds on the matterhorn??? You are my Hero!!
Props to the grammie for the dresses.
I almost didn't recognize Velzie in her princess get up. Good luck toughing through it.
its good to embrace the princess thing, not only does it have its perks but you have to admit she is dang frakin adorable!
my only biff is the fact that almost all the princesses' moms are dead or mia AND some dress pretty immodestly AND a couple are complete airheads. Other than that, yeah embrace it. :)
i am really loving velzy's new 'do! and she makes such a lovely princess.
Okay, first of all, your mom is amazing, if i ever had any girls, i would TOTALLY ask her to make a princess dress for her. princess aren't so bad, Ash. easy for me to say, though, since i won't ever have to go through that stage. at least i hope not!!
love this post.. e mail me those pics of kai with ariel some time... lets go this week!
