not that i have a huge business or anything, but news of
this makes me upset. and really upset for those who will be affected negatively by the consumer product safety consumer act. luckily, for the most part i sell stuff to friends and i could get around all the law, and don't really mind breaking a law or two anyways, but bummer for those who are trying to make a difference and will not be able to make their toys and clothes anymore. read
melissa's blog for the skinny, and then do something about it!

the thing I think is completely outrageous about this, is that thrift stores will most likely STOP selling children items completely, and small children clothing businesses are sure they are going to have to file bankruptcy.
Thrift stores will have to get rid of everything by the 9th of feb. so a lot of nice things will have to be thrown in the dump (or hopefully donated to charities) There are people who need to shop used for there children's clothes, or they can't get them clothes at all and they will no longer be able to.
This doesn't really affect my "business" (haha!! if you can even call it that) because I hardly make money doing that. What it does affect is how I will be able to buy clothes and toys for Kaiya. It practically eliminates the small guys completely. No more unique and original kid stuff. so sad!
and...
I'm glad your doing the bamboo! it's really fun to make!
my tips? draw out the pieces on the back of the contact paper before you cut, and look at pictures of real bamboo to see the kind you like. and don't worry too much about mistakes because it's really forgiving to work with.
you gotta blog about it when your done, k? I totally want to see it. have fun! :)
You have to find loopholes. Wow, can you tell me dad is a lawyer? Well, I would say that you should just start marketing your items as doll clothes, but mention the size of the clothes. I think I might try to sell bows on there soon and I am going to market them towards teens, since that is the new fad. I think it will be overturned. The consequences are too great. Seriously, boutiques are going to be eliminated!
so lame! it is too bad this wasnt thought out more carefully....
wow. why are people so lame? no one is making people buy the stuff--they WANT to! that happened to me with ebay--they said i was selling used underwear when i was selling diaper covers. anywho, like your friend said you gotta work around it...i took the word "used" off of the listing and sold them easily.
